"Altair" Airship Design
Here is my Airship concept "Altair." It is a private vessel designed for a smaller crew complement than military grade vessels, though this ship is built to hold it's own.
The ship is propelled by two dual-ring energy accelerator engines. Energy is provided through a crystal filament web within the ship's body that collects light. Weapons include a energy backfire from the engines themselves, as well as two canon emplacements on either side of the bridge. Included is a small flight of single-pilot crafts that dock in a hanger on the top of the vessel. The ship's design is meant to imitate aspects of various birds of prey as well as stealth aircraft. It was inspired by airships from the Final Fantasy video game series, namely FFX, FFX-2, and FFXII, coupled with the Assassin's Creed eagle theme. Both game franchises were ones I was heavily playing at the time, so I felt inspired to work on an airship of my own. Originally only a half-drawing, I had attempted to mirror and patch up the design to unite the two halves, as well as repair the missing wing tips and tail end. However, the original sketch is saved back at my home instead of with me at college, so correcting and improving the sketch into a better concept is on hold. |
Sea Dragon
This was my first attempt at drawing a Dragon.
It was inspired through a handful of speed art videos I had watched online depicting dragons, as well as my love of the species. I started by following the instructions I had though an art tutorial book, but I rather disliked the end result and started again. This time I drew my own work only loosely following the tutorial and arrived at this. The design ended up flowing into a more aquatic-styled scale pattern, in my view, so I named it to follow suit. I also added a lot more details than the tutorial book had, so I really felt I had exceeded at this piece. I particularly liked the work on the dragon's mouth, spending a lot more time in one sitting than I spent at the other parts. The eyes proved troublesome and I went through several styles in my head and on sketches elsewhere till I got to this design. |
"Lyren" Aquatic Race
Here are two conceptual images of a Aquatic mer-race, the Lyren.
Following a suggestion for the Guild Wars 2 online game prior to it's launch, I was inspired to add my own ideas to the suggested race, including these two images. The profile shot was the first, which laid down the initial look. The frontal shot was next, which explored a few concepts for possibly having four eyes on the creature. The second image is not proportionally correct for a female, however, which is it's most influential flaw. The race was also designed with a dual-chamber respiration system that explained its ability to breath both above and below water, as well as echo-communication and basic cultural aspects. |

"Serefauglir" Blood Fang Dagger
This is one of my sword designs, the "Serefauglir" dagger.
For the Lore I gave it, this is an ornate ritual blade, designed for combat against mythical beasts such as Lycanthropes and Ailuranthropes. The blade is infused with silver and mithril, and enchanted to draw power from the blood of its victims to protect its bearer. Design-wise I followed the fantasy blade style over practicality. though I did try to think of how to make such a fantastical design to be somewhat practical. I also pulled some of the design choices from other blades I had drawn, one being a Master Sword variant, hence the pommel. As for the name, I pulled from my favorite fantasy language, Tolkien Elvish. |
